Afternoon everyone, well we are well and truly into the new house. While initially we were living and sleeping in the lounge while we started the redecoration and some of the conversion work, we have now actually been able to sleep in one of the bedrooms.
Madam's bedroom is well underway as that has been the priority and I seem to be smelling continually of paint at the moment.
With Madam very settled into her job and me being very focused on the renovations of the house, we decided to take some time out yesterday and go out for a sunday lunch in a local pub. The aim was to give both of us a break from the work at home but also to start to see what there is locally to where we now live.
While we know the area well geographically, and we are getting a handle on places to go walking, our knowledge of place to socialise and good places to eat are significantly out of date as the last time we really went out socially in this area was over 25 years ago.....and there has been some significant changes in that time.
so with a few online checking of reviews we headed to to chosen venue, a couple of miles away in a near by village. The place was quite busy which was a good sign and it had a very good mixed crowd - old and young.
Drinks were ordered and we watched some of the meals come out and they looked pretty good, so food was also ordered.
Lovely......
as we chatted, just normal vanilla stuff, Madam noticed a few younger women in skirts and wearing tights or stockings. nothing unusual, particularly as the weather has changed to being a bit cooler and Madam was also wearing stockings and a Tweed skirt (oh how country folk we looked....) but where Madam was wearing a pair of knee boots with a block heel, she pointed out that these others were all wearing trainers.
This created a bit of a conversation between us, was this a trend? is it a fashion that we had missed.
as we had our food there were a few more small groups and couples that came in and again several of the girls were wearing hosiery and trainers. Quite a few of the younger women wear wearing fishnets.
Then I noticed the next thing quite a few of them had seamed stockings/ tights, certainly more than just one or two. At this point our conversation became even more serious as both Madam and I noticed that none of them had a straight seam amongst them.
Look we all know that keeping seams straight, particularly on stockings is a constant challenge, and when I'm required to wear seams it is an easy win for Madam if she is looking for something to pick me up for, but quite a lot of those that we saw yesterday were quite badly crooked and it was almost as if they hadn't straightened them when they put them on.
It gave us an interesting point to discuss, particularly as we both like our stockings and we both know what is involved in keeping them straight.
So the question is - is this a trend and fashion to wear Stockings and trainers? and if they have seams does it matter if they are not straight? or is it simply a case that some people just don't care if they are straight?
The lack of attention to detail certainly annoyed Madam.
hi billie - it's been a thing for like, oh ages :)
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, horror or horrors you would on rare occasions see me in stockings and flip flops at home - neither a good look or practical as the flip flops are a bugger to keep on your feet.
Great to read that you are settling in. Little do your new neighbours know....
